Meet your 2024 Parade Marshalls
The Eldorado Community Picnic & Parade have chosen their 2024 Parade Marshals. Being celebrated this year is John & Mary Jaeger of Eldorado and Dorothy Zima, formerly of Eldorado; along with her late husband Don. Each of them are well deserving, thus being recognized for their contributions to the Eldorado Community since the 1970’s. They will be honored during the Eldorado Community Picnic & Parade held on July 21st.
The Zima’s moved to Eldorado in 1970 and instantly became involved with the community through the Eldorado Firemen and the Ladies Auxiliary, including working many “community picnics.” In the later chapter, they both continued to volunteer their time as “charter members” through the Lions & Lioness Clubs. They raised their 4 children, Teri, Tim, Matt & Michelle and taught them the value of volunteering as well. For many years, their family accepted the task of overseeing the beverage wagons for the Eldorado Parade. Don passed away in 2006 and Dorothy continues to return to Eldorado to help out where needed for any event. Together they have 9 grandchildren.
John and Mary Beth (Isaac) Jaeger are also being honored for the many years of community service. Mary Beth comes from many generations of Isaacs who lived in the community. Fact being, it was Isaac farm land on which the current “community park” is established. So to Mary, volunteering was second nature through the Ladies Auxiliary and Eldorado Lioness. The Jaeger’s were married in 1974, built a home and raised their 3 daughters in Eldorado. (Nichi, Kristin & Kelly) John is a “charter” member of the Lions club and continues to be an active volunteer. John worked at Mercury Marine for 40 years and Mary was employed at Hierl Insurance for 36 years. They are both retired and enjoy spending time attending their 8 grandchildren’s sports & events, along with a little time to go gambling. Mary is very involved with Holy Family Catholic Church. Both John and Mary continue to give back to their community whenever possible.
Coincidentally, the Zima’s and Jaegers were “next door neighbors” for most their married lives, continue to be friends and all consider Eldorado to be home. And Eldorado has been lucky to have had all of them giving back to the Community in which they lived! Congratulations and well deserved!
